Front-End Developer

We hire capable, motivated people who want to help clients across all industries – private, non-profits, start-ups, government, etc. – experience incredible success in both web and mobile. This web developer will be stepping into a full-time position in our Tysons Corner headquarters.

You don’t have to know everything, but you must be smart, proactive in learning, and a nice person.

Things that definitely describe you:

• For the past 3+ years, you’ve been working on the web.
• You’ve become quite the authority on CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
• jQuery is your friend, and writing some occasional PHP doesn’t terrify you.
• You’re a master of cross-browser compatibility (IE 6, 7, 8, Firefox, Safari, Chrome) and you manage to stay relatively calm when working through IE 6 bugs because you know it’s just a matter of time before the world stops supporting it.
• You’ve implemented content management systems and blog platforms such as ExpressionEngine, Drupal, Joomla, and/or WordPress.
• Your markup is semantically correct and your sites are optimized for the search engines.
• You pick your battles and substantiate your choices. You understand that others’ input might actually improve quality or execution.
• You may not always be perfect with your time estimates, but you always get the job done and don’t cut corners or ignore details. You understand that respect and integrity are everything.
• You get bored or easily burnt out if work is rote and unchallenging. You want to be involved with strategy rather than just being told exactly what to do.
• You can architect information in an intuitive way.
• You stay abreast of current trends, tools, and technologies (because you LIKE to).
• You like being given creative freedom and want to be handsomely rewarded for the exceptional work you do each day to improve both your company’s processes AND clients’ success online.

Things that might also describe you:

• You’ve developed for mobile.
• You have some basic understanding of technologies like Python, Django, AJAX, or Ruby on Rails.
• You may have worked with enterprise-level technologies (Sharepoint, Oracle).
• Maybe you have basic Photoshop skills and have even played the role of web designer for consumer sites.
• 508 Compliance is in your repertoire.
